It's Good to be King
It’s rapidly becoming an annual tradition to grab a group of friends and spend a day going medieval for an afternoon and this year was no exception. Along with Jayme, Melissa, and Caroline we spent the day listening to “ye ole” medieval speak, drunken pirates, and an influx of half naked people which was disturbing on multiple levels. All in all, this is the formula for a fun afternoon with former and current college drama, arts, band, and choir students living the dream!
I was able to pick a few wenches out for the crowd from last year during the drunken pirate group The Jolly Rogers’ performance. One has taken her game to a new level with multiple Jolly Roger tattoos. At first glance, I thought the tattos were fake but after walking by her, I’m 90% they are in fact large and very real. I’m guessing she’s a wife or girlfriend of someone in the group; otherwise, she’s taking super fandom to a whole new level.
Our day ended with the girls dragging me in for a group photo. There’s worse places to be then around three women where I have to pretend to be King for five minutes. Next time, I say pirate captain and wenches would make a better theme but I’m still working out the idea and details with them. It’s a work in progress…
